Stefan Glaenzer

Stefan Glänzer is an entrepreneur turned early stage investor based in London. He was named the Best Angel Investor in Europe 2011 by the readers and editors of TechCrunch Europe. He was the first investor and executive chairman of both Mendeley and Last.fm, seeing both companies through their respective acquisitions by Reed Elsevier (2012) and CBS (2007). Prior to investing, Stefan was co-founder of ricardo.de, one of the first European online auction sites, which went public in 1999 and merged into QXLricardo in 2000 and eventually sold for USD 1.8bn to Naspers (2008).

 

Stefan is a firm believer in European entrepreneurship and has launched Passion Capital (2011, EUR 100m seed fund) and White Bear Yard with his partners @eileentso and @robertdighero. As an angel he invested in 40 startups, amongst them Monzo, Kreditech and Tradeshift.
He enjoys living in London with his wife and kids, holds a PhD in Foreign Exchange Risk Management and was a DJ for 15 years in his hometown Hamburg.
